Timescale trackers

The contract award procedures under both the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 come with a confusing array of minimum timescales, and possible reductions to those timescales.

In addition, non-central government contracting authorities and utilities enjoy a certain amount of flexibility around the setting of timescales, subject to agreement with and safeguards for bidders.

Getting to grips with the timescales for the various procurement procedures can be tricky, so we have brought these together for you in two handy Timescale Trackers. Below you can download our Timescale Tracker for each of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 (as appropriate).

Note that the periods given in our timescale trackers are the minimum timescales permitted by the legislation. Consideration should always be given to the complexity of the procurement and a reasonable time must be given to allow suppliers to compile their responses. You must also take into consideration the general rules around setting of time limits (these are set out at Regulation 47 of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and Regulation 66 of the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016).
