EDS2 announced: Refreshed Equality Delivery System for the NHS

The Equality Delivery System (EDS), designed to help NHS organisations 'in discussion with local partners' review and improve your performance for people with characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010, was rolled out to the NHS in July 2011 and formally launched in November 2011. The EDS is currently being implemented by the vast majority of NHS organisations across England and should support you to comply with your obligations under the Public Sector Equality Duty.

The design and implementation of the EDS was independently evaluated by Shared Intelligence in 2012 and a refreshed streamlined 'EDS2' is now available as a result. The findings of Shared Intelligence will also form a part of the ongoing review of the Public Sector Equality Duty being led by the Government Equality Office.

The EDS2 documentation can be accessed on the NHS England website at EDS2.
