You wouldn't lose your data would you? New guidance on data deletion?

We now know that Brighton Hospital has been fined £325,000 by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) following the recent case that got them into hot water. There was a failure to destroy data adequately and hard drives ended up for sale on eBay replete with the personal data of patients.

The Information Commissioner has now produced guidance for individuals and organisations on deleting information to assist in ensuring that redundant hard drives and removable media devices used to store personal data are properly cleansed of the information or completely destroyed.
