Commissioning Board publishes briefing packs on Local Area Teams and Clinical Senates

Links to both packs can be found here. The Local Area Teams pack confirms that there will be 27 LATs. Each of them will deal with direct commissioning responsibilities for GP services dental services pharmacy and certain aspects of optical services. 10 of the LATs will lead on specialised commissioning across England. A smaller number of LATs will carry out the direct commissioning of other services such as offender health. The model for commissioning of public health has yet to be determined.

The Clinical Senates pack confirms that there will be 12 senates and not much more than that! The detail of who will be part of the senates and the roles they may have will be shared for discussion over the next few weeks. The pack confirms that the NHSCB is working with clinicians and stakeholders on the exact makeup of clinical senates and there will be opportunities for engagement and co-production within this work. Further details will be circulated in the coming week. Watch this space!
