CCG Regulations now published

These regulations make provision for the membership name establishment and governance of a CCG and also for the variation of a CCG's constitution and for the merger and dissolution of CCGs.

Four regulations (3 4 5 and 6) to deal with the requirement that the name must begin with  NHS and end with Clinical Commissioning Group and include a geographical reference that fairly accurately represents the CCG's area.

Regulation 11 provides that every CCG must have an employee who has an accountancy qualification. Secondary care doctor and the nurse must be from secondary care and out of area (as we have been predicting although this surprised the HSJ).

If the chair is a lay person s/he can't be the lay person with the financial expertise. The CCG must also comprise at least six members whose term of appointment is determined by the CCG.
