New regulations for CCG arrive

Last month saw the Department of Health announce that two sets of regulations (1) The National Health Service Commissioning Board and Clinical Commissioning Groups (Responsibilities and Standing Rules) Regulations 2012 and the (2) draft National Health Service (Clinical Commissioning Groups - Disapplication of Responsibility) Regulations 2012 had been laid before Parliament. The first set of regulations provide for a range of matters relating to the functions and commissioning responsibilities of the NHS CB and CCGs such as the choice of health service provider. The second set of regulations relate to the exceptions to CCGs' duty under the 2006 National Health Services Act to commission health services for certain groups of people or persons in specified circumstances.
